LEWISTON

Lewiston Adult Education has released its Winter-Spring 2017 brochure with new classes on photography to Virtual Reality.

Sun Journal photographer Russ Dillingham will teach Photography Tips from a Pro. The one-night class will include some of the pictures he has taken for the newspaper and explanations of how he uses drones and video as additional tools to tell a story.

Spring Super Saturday is scheduled for March 18 at Lewiston High School. It will include classes such as Muffin Basket, Virtual Reality, Arabic and Egyptian Cooking. University of Maine graduate student Camden Bock and Professor Justin Dimmel of The Maine Center for Research in STEM Education will show how technology can be used in games and in teaching as part of their Virtual Reality class.

Popular classes such as Rug Braiding, basket weaving and Standup Comedy Workshop are returning. Stasia Minkowsky will also teach more sessions of meditation in the Winter-Spring semester.

Workforce classes will have a number of new choices. They include the Financial Services Certificate, a Medical Specialist class and a one-night Notary Public class. Welding I and II along with the Certified Nursing Assistant Program shall also be available for sign-up.

People interested in refreshing their skills before taking a college class can register for the College Transition Program. Those who would like to get their high school credential or become an American citizen can also take classes in the coming semester.
