Local Author Mark Griffin to Teach Writing Workshops
As part of Lewiston Adult Education's Winter/Spring 2012 season, local writer Mark Griffin, the author of an acclaimed celebrity biography published in 2010, will serve as instructor for two forthcoming LAE workshops.
Beginning February 9th, Griffin will teach an eight week course, Writing: From Inspiration to Publication, which will motivate writers - both amateur and experienced - to unleash their full creative potential while offering invaluable tips for getting their work (whether it be an article, essay, short story, novel or non-fiction piece) into print. Classes will meet on Thursday evenings from 6:30-8:30pm at Lewiston High School.
On Saturday, March 31st, from 9:00am-3:00pm, Griffin will lead a one day workshop, Write It Out, which invites participants to check their writer's block at the door and get inspired by engaging in a series of exercises designed to spark creativity and encourage a freer form of artistic expression.
Griffin is the author of A Hundred or More Hidden Things: The Life and Films of Vincente Minnelli, which was published by Da Capo Press in 2010. In April, Griffin is scheduled to host a tribute to Minnelli, the Oscar-winning director of such Hollywood classics as An American In Paris and Gigi, at the Paramount Theatre in Boston. Griffin's film reviews, essays and short stories have appeared in The Boston Globe, MovieMaker, Premiere and in several anthologies.
