Elise DeSalvo is scheduled to teach Wire-Wrapped Rings and Gemstone Hoop Earrings at Lewiston Adult Education.
Fall class options at Lewiston Adult Education will offer a wide variety of options for students, including comedy, jewelry creation and fitness.
Matt Dundas will teach “Standup Comedy 101 & A Half.” Students will practice performing their material with feedback, as well as having lessons on writing and stagecraft. Students will participate in a graduation showcase at Cafe Obscura on Lisbon Street in Lewiston.
Dundas spent years working in the Washington, D.C. comedy scene, opening for Jimmy O. Yang and Alonzo Bodden, along with working with Stavros Halkias, Martin Amini, and Tony Woods.
In September, Elise DeSalvo will teach Wire-Wrapped Rings and in October, Gemstone Hoop Earrings. She has taught jewelry workshops around the state and sells her creations at Elise Marie Designs.
Returning teachers include Becki Leighton, who will be teaching Chair Zumba and Power Stretch. Rosa Storer will return with her energetic mix of exercise with uptempo music in Livin’ It Up Line Dancing.
Former Lewiston High School instructor Bernie Fortier will also be back for Financial Literacy, covering topics such as credit card debt and budgeting. Attorney Mitchel Roberge will again host another session of Basics of Wills & Estate Planning. Lynn Ward will teach Landlord-Tenant Relations and Greg Yates is offering two different sessions on Excel, and a cybersecurity class.
The fall semester will also feature Sgt. Desiree Michaud of the Lewiston Police Department serving as an instructor. Michaud, who serves in the department’s community resource office, will teach a course called “Civilian Police Academy.” The class will cover topics such as modern policing techniques and department structure. It will not be a training for police certification.
Lewiston Adult Education once again is sharing a combined brochure with Auburn Adult & Community Education. The booklet is scheduled to be in mailboxes in September. Classes are also available for registration online at www.lewiston.maineadulted.org.
