Originally from central South America, the consumption of Yerba Mate tea is now spreading around the world. As a native of the Yerba Mate production region, I will share how the tea is prepared in the traditional way of northeast Argentina. Every student will be provided with a gourd and straw, and participate in a step-by-step practical demonstration. I will also introduce facts about the Yerba Mate plant, its nutritional properties, how the tea is produced, ways it can be consumed, as well as the social and cultural significance of the infusion.
