A free computer training program starting in April at Lewiston Adult Education will prepare students for employment as computer user support specialists and help desk technicians.
The program is a partnership between TechHire Maine, Lewiston Adult Education and CompTIA. In order to qualify, a person must be a resident of Maine, between the ages of 17 and 29 and have proof of authorization to work in the United States.
Students who complete the training will receive two industry certifications, IC3 and CompTIA A+.
Classes are scheduled to begin on April 6 and end on June 16. The Monday through Friday sessions will run from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Information and testing sessions will be held at Lewiston Adult Education’s office at the B Street Community Center on 57 Birch St. in Lewiston on March 24 from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on April 1 from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. The office is on the second floor of the community center, which is at the corner of Bates and Birch streets.
