Are you interested in a career in education? You can start as a substitute teacher in Lewiston Public Schools.
Lewiston Adult Education will provide an orientation and training program from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. scheduled from Aug. 8 to Aug. 11 at the Adult Learning Center, located in Longley Campus, 145 Birch St. in Lewiston.
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, have work authorization, access to college transcripts and diplomas as well as complete and pass an English skills assessment. Potential substitutes will also need to be fingerprinted before they can apply to work as a substitute teacher.
Substitute teachers and educational technicians will also have continued support through the Adult Education program during the school year, with workshops on topics such as instruction and digital literacy.
People interested in educational careers may also receive support in working toward educational technician certification through the Maine Department of Education.
