LEWISTON
Hearty Soups and Apple Canning top the list of Lewiston Adult Education classes coming this fall.
The combined brochure with Auburn Adult & Community Education will go in the mail to all Lewiston and Auburn residents in September. Classes will also be listed on the Lewiston Adult Education website, www.lewiston.maineadulted.org.
Jamie Dube will teach a new class, Ceramic Art/Pottery. It will be held in his classroom in the new addition to Lewiston High School.
Class listings in the brochure will have either Lewiston High School or the Gov. Longley campus on 145 Birch St. in Lewiston as the sites for class. For online classes, students will have to download the Zoom app on their laptop, smartphone or digital device in order to participate.
Cooking classes will have a fall flavor to them thanks to two classes. Deborah Walder will teach an online class about hearty soups. Kate McCarty of the University of Maine Cooperative Extension will instruct students in Apple Canning in person.
The fall semester will have many returning teachers with popular classes and a few new ones.
Dawn Hartill will return to teach her improvisational comedy class. Becki Leighton will also be back at Lewiston Adult Education for fitness classes including Chair Zumba and Power Stretch. Rosa Storer will offer Cardio Line Dancing for a mix of music and movement. Yahya Ismael will teach Modern Standard Arabic, a longer version of the class he taught in the Winter-Spring 2022 semester. Greg Yates will offer a new Excel class for the fall, along with a new session of the genealogy class Ancestry Tracing.
